In each issue of our newsletter, people from our firm introduce themselves personally. This time it is the turn of our corporate lawyer Lukas Reichenbach.

Born in 1995, I grew up in Breisach am Rhein, right on the French border and close to the Kaiserstuhl. It was almost inevitable that I would develop a close connection to France. Already as a child, I played tennis with my friends in France and this was one of the reasons why I decided to take the French Abitur.

After graduating from high school, like many other young adults, I was faced with the important question of which career path I should take. I was enthusiastic about scientific innovation and therefore also considered studying economics and engineering. The decision to study law was ultimately a gut decision, as I had had little contact with law beforehand. At times during my studies, I had doubts as to whether I had made the right choice. This was probably due to the fact that I was never really enthusiastic about areas of law such as criminal law. I was and still am interested in commercial law. The opportunity to not only understand economic relationships and processes from a legal perspective, but also to penetrate them, ultimately led me to decide to do a doctorate on a capital market law topic. I am extremely grateful that I can combine this project with my work as a lawyer. Working as a lawyer enriches me on many levels: It allows me to provide solution-oriented advice in an international environment and in a great team. At the same time, it always opens up interesting insights into new areas of business. I find advising innovative start-ups on their foundation and providing them with legal support during their first steps on the market particularly diverse and exciting.

In my free time, I feel drawn to faraway places to discover new cultures and travel the world. I love the sea, one of the few things that my chosen hometown of Freiburg unfortunately can't offer me. During my semester abroad in Greece, I was able to combine the two in an ideal way. I still love traveling to this diverse country with its lovely people.

Although my footballing talent was not enough for a career beyond the county league, I was able to learn a lot about teamwork and team spirit. I now prefer to watch top-class soccer at our SC Freiburg stadium. Despite my sympathy for Greece and its soccer clubs, I prefer to keep my fingers crossed for our SC Freiburg in European duels, even if it's against Athens clubs.

Finally, I would like to end my introduction by answering the question about my role models. Fortunately, I find my role models in my immediate family. My two older siblings, Benjamin and Stefanie, are outstanding role models for me and I have been able to learn a lot from them. I could always look up to them and they still inspire me.
