FGvW opens fifth German office in Hamburg with laterals from BRL at the beginning of 2024

At the beginning of the year, FGvW opens a new, fifth office in Germany with tax lawyer Marc Tepfer (55) in Hamburg. Tepfer and his team of three associates from the Hamburg office of BRL BOEGE ROHDE LUEBBEHUESEN are moving to FGvW. Together they will set up the new office in Bornhold Haus on Neuer Wall in the heart of the Hanseatic city.

Marc Tepfer had been a partner at BRL since 2012, where he was responsible for the Public Sector Tax and Legal department. Before that, Tepfer, who grew up in the Hamburg metropolitan region, worked at PwC in the area of tax and corporate law, after starting his career as a lawyer at CMS Hasche Sigle in Leipzig.

Tepfer advises a large number of medium-sized companies and local authorities as well as federal states, districts, cities and municipalities. In addition to tax law, he also advises on EU state aid law and corporate law in connection with the restructuring of public companies. Together with his team, the Hamburg partner also advises on the tax structuring of transactions, tax planning and classic tax issues of public and private companies. A further focus is corporate law transaction advice for private sector companies. Here, the Hamburg team will work closely with the existing corporate law and M&A practice at FGvW.

Marc Tepfer joins with his entire tax team, consisting of Linda Hahn (lawyer), Carina Hauptmann (lawyer/tax consultant) and Annika Kringel (tax consultant). He will thus ensure the further development of tax law expertise at FGvW, which began with the Berlin partner Oliver Ehrmann. "At FGvW, we can offer our clients a very broad range of expertise and therefore a genuine 'full service'," says Tepfer. "I was particularly impressed by FGvW's flexibility and dynamism as well as its well-known quality standards in the market. FGvW enjoys an excellent reputation in the transaction sector across all industries, both nationally and internationally. I was also happy to choose FGvW because of the lean management structure and the strong entrepreneurial freedom within the firm."

Local partner Dr. Sven Ufe Tjarks, who comes from the Freiburg commercial and corporate law team, and experienced senior associate Dr. Stephanie von Riegen, who have been based in Hamburg for some time, will also be working out of the new Hamburg office from now on. FGvW will thus also be able to offer its local clients advice in the areas of commercial and corporate law, M&A and antitrust law.

The establishment of the fifth FGvW office in Germany is a consistent continuation of the firm's strategy of growth based on market demand. Thanks to the close cooperation with the corporate and M&A teams in Freiburg, Cologne, Frankfurt and Berlin, the addition of the Hamburg office will significantly expand the range of services offered to clients. With Tepfer's team, FGvW will in from now on cover the entire spectrum of tax transaction advice for public and private companies as well as tax advice for the public sector and municipal companies. In addition, the areas of corporate law, M&A and private equity will be further strengthened by expanding at their interface with tax law.

"With Marc Tepfer, we are won over a proven tax expert who, together with his team, will drive forward the further development of tax law expertise at FGvW and at the same time strengthen our firm's corporate law transaction advice," says Carsten Laschet, spokesman for the firm's management. "We are delighted to welcome him into the partnership and look forward to our return to the Hamburg."
