In each issue of our newsletter, people from our firm introduce themselves personally. This time it is the turn of IP lawyer Frauke Weber from our Frankfurt office.

Born in Tehran, Iran, I spent my childhood and youth in the Rheingau, which even today, with my own family, ranks high as a weekend destination.

I decided to study law in Mainz in order to keep many doors open for myself, and at least at the beginning of my studies, a career in journalism was just as likely as the path to the classical legal profession. Who knows whether, after several internships at TV stations and newspapers, Ally McBeal or Dieter Dörr, founding director of the Mainz Media Institute, ultimately tipped the scales in favor of working as a lawyer?

I gained my first experience in the field of intellectual property during a traineeship at a large American law firm, where I also discovered my passion for trademarks and their protection.

I enjoy advising a wide variety of industries with the goal of helping the respective products succeed. The value, the exclusivity, the image of a product is reflected not least in its name and it is fun to be able to contribute to this. In some cases, this can lead to a successful cooperation of the parties, in other cases to a legal or official dispute and defense of rights. No matter which path is pursued, the decisive factor is close, trusting cooperation with the client.

Since I was drawn to foreign countries, especially to the USA, during my studies, I still enjoy the international aspects of this field of law and the exchange with colleagues abroad.

My favorite travel destination is the USA, especially the East Coast. I look forward to expanding my travel radius again when my daughters get older. However, there are opportunities to enjoy time together with the family everywhere - on the ski slopes, on the beach in Corsica, on the roof terrace at home in Frankfurt ...

I recently read the terrific book "Love in Times of Hate" by Florian Illies - the right reading and lesson at all times!
