WirtschaftsWoche: FGvW Top Law Firm for Corporate Law

The German business weekly ''WirtschaftsWoche'' has awarded us the mention as top law firm for corporate law. Our managing partner, Barbara Mayer, was mentioned as particularly recommended lawyer of our firm in the ranking of the 55 top corporate law firms in Germany, which appeared in the current issue of the leading business magazine.

For the selection of the leading corporate lawyers, the Handelsblatt Research Institute (HRI) interviewed more than 4,000 lawyers in 245 law firms about the most renowned colleagues specializing in their field. An expert jury consisting of Claas Westermann (RWE), Alexander Zumkeller (ABB), Martin Schlag (Thyssenkrupp) and Achim Schunder (publisher C.H. Beck) filtered out the 55 law firms with 86 particularly recommended lawyers from the list of top lawyers.

This is also demonstrated by the rankings of the leading handbooks for commercial law firms such as JUVE and Legal 500, and not least by the JUVE Award as Law Firm of the Year for the Mittelstand", explains Barbara Mayer. "Such feedback from the market and in particular from our colleagues in other law firms motivates us all and underlines the high attractiveness and increased reputation of our firm within the legal profession."

The award is also an additional incentive for Barbara Mayer's professional commitment in the field of corporate law. She has been a member of the Corporate Law Committee of the Federal Bar since 2011. This committee issues statements on current draft laws within the framework of ongoing legislative procedures. Furthermore, Barbara Mayer is a member of the German delegation to the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE), an association of the national bar associations of the EU Member States and the EEA signatories Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland. In addition, Barbara Mayer has been a member of the Executive Committee of the International Business Law Working Group of the German Bar Association since 2014. In March, Barbara Mayer, together with Gerhard Manz, also belonged to the organization team for the "European Day of Commercial and Company Law" held in Freiburg.

This is not the first time that our law firm has been included in the top rankings for lawyers of the magazine WirtschaftsWoche. Among others, Uwe Steingröver for construction law, Tobias Lenz for directors’ liability law, Carsten Laschet and Tobias Lenz in insurance law received the award.
