FGvW advises ThielemannGroup on investment in Warsteiner logistics subsidiary BOXX Intermodal Logistics

Friedrich Graf von Westphalen has advised the German ThielemannGroup Holding AG on the acquisition of 49 percent of the shares in BOXX Intermodal Logistics GmbH & Co. KG, the logistics subsidiary of the Haus Cramer Group.

With the new location in Warstein, Germany, logistics specialist Navid Thielemann and his ThielemannGroup is now ablte to offer customers long-distance transport by rail, thereby expanding the radius of distribution channels from the North and Baltic Seas to the Mediterranean thanks to improved north-south coverage. The contracts were signed on October 31, 2023, and the parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.

ThielemannGroup bundles Navid Thielemann’s investments and business activities in the logistics sector along the entire supply chain. The group employs around 500 people through its subsidiaries and generated sales of around 400 million Euros in 2022. Thanks to the location in Warstein, the logistics specialist can now also provide an attractive offering to the more than 150 medium-sized hidden champions in the neighboring Sauerland region in order to optimize distribution channels in the area of rail and intermodal logistics in a fuel- and emission-saving manner.

Arnt Göppert and his team regularly advise the ThielemannGroup on larger projects, most recently on the investments in fairsenden GmbH, a specialist for CO2-free delivery with cargo bikes on the last mile, Boomerang GmbH, a provider of recyclable packaging solutions, Pacurion GmbH, a digital platform for load carriers and Lagerkarton GmbH, a producer of open-fronted storage boxes made of corrugated cardboard.

In addition to BOXX Intermodal Logistics, based in Warstein, the Haus Cramer brewery group includes the Warsteiner, Herforder, König Ludwig and Paderborner breweries as well as the beverage service provider H.C. Drinks Solutions. The focus of BOXX is on door-to-door deliveries, where long-distance shipments are handled by rail with low emissions.
