Exports of dual-use goods or military goods are subject to restrictions and require regular permits. In addition, (partial) embargoes against certain third countries restrict or prohibit merchandise exports to these countries.

Finally, the regulations (EC) Nos. 2580/2001 and 881/2002 prohibit any contact with persons or companies suspected of engaging in or supporting terrorism.
