FGvW advises FSSB Group in Relation to its Sale to US Surgical Specialities

Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner advised the shareholders of FSSB Chirurgische Nadeln GmbH in relation to the sale of its shares in FSSB, as well as in FSSB’s affiliated companies to the American Surgical Specialties Group. The details of the transaction were not disclosed.

FSSB was founded in 1995. The company has approximately 240 employees and is one of the worldwide leading manufacturers of surgical needles. They provide a broad range of needles for use in surgery including micro, ophthalmic and standard surgical needles. FSSB also works with partners to attach the needles to sutures used in ophthalmic, cardiovascular and sternotomy procedures. FSSB has its seat and production sites in Jestetten, as well as a large production plant in Pößneck near Leipzig. FSSB sells its products worldwide in approximately 60 countries.

The Surgical Specialties Group is a leading manufacturer of branded, private label and OEM surgical instruments for modern surgery, wound closure, ophthalmology and radiology. Its parent has its seat in Vancouver, Canada. The group has subsidiaries in the USA, Central America and Europe and approximately 1,400 employees worldwide.
