JUVE Handbook Commercial Law Firms 2020/2021

In its main area of practice, healthcare, the labor law practice of the Mittelstand consultant recently won new clients and intensified its work for existing clients. The team took this into account by further expanding its staff. Most recently, the Freiburg office was strengthened to flank the flourishing M&A practice. There is also a close exchange with the corporate lawyers in Cologne and Frankfurt, for example in the joint advice to a globally active pharmaceutical company or the restructuring of the household appliance manufacturer Küppersbusch. In addition, clients from the aviation and defense sectors frequently rely on the restructuring experience of the FGvW lawyers. The new Berlin office also offers the team the opportunity to further expand its supra-regional advice, even though no labor lawyer is yet active in this field.

The expansion of the Frankfurt and Cologne office locations in labor law is having an effect: Although the majority of the mostly Mittelstand clients still come from the southwest, the nationwide advice provided has increased, for example for Yello Strom and the Peterhoff Group in NRW. While the main work at Paracelsus is now behind them, the FGvW lawyers continue to advise numerous other clinics on temporary employment, collective bargaining law or restructuring. A Cologne partner is also regularly involved in the transactional business of the M&A practice. (…)

JUVE Handbook German Commercial Law Firms 2018/2019

The labor law practice of the law firm, which is one of the top addresses in the southwest, not only benefits from the good networking with companies in the health care industry located there, but also from the lively, often cross-border transaction business of the M&A practice. It has now also decisively strengthened its presence at its locations away from Freiburg. Particularly in Frankfurt, one of the two partners who came from Taylor Wessing in 2016 and 2017 brought along numerous hospitals and medical care centres as clients who regularly require advice on restructuring. The restructuring of the insolvent Paracelsus clinic group proved to be particularly complex.

Key areas: Comprehensive advice to frequently medium-sized companies, in particular on restructuring and reorganization (incl. reconciliation of interests and social plan), with a focus on the healthcare sector

Clients: Paracelsus on federal restructuring concept; Ormed on outsourcing and staff reduction; private school boards on company pensions; aerospace companies on introduction of compliance system
