In each issue of our newsletter, people from our firm introduce themselves personally. This time it is the turn of our corporate lawyer Jonas Doser.

I was born in the Palatinate, a region that is not called the “Tuscany of Germany” for no reason. I spent my childhood in Speyer, the imperial city with its impressive history and the cathedral that towers over the city. Very close to the cathedral, I was allowed to go to the “High School at the Imperial Cathedral” after elementary school. There, it quickly became apparent that my future path would not lead me into the natural sciences, but that I was more interested in language and interacting with people. Of my two childhood career aspirations, astronaut and sports journalist, at least the latter remained as an option. Looking at the earth from space will therefore probably remain wishful thinking for the time being.

So going into law was not a childhood dream either. The idea of studying law came about at the job center when, in an in-depth 15-minute analysis of me, they decided that it was the right thing for me - you don't earn anything as a sports journalist. I wasn't quite sure about this after all and saved up money through a few part-time jobs to explore the other side of the world: New Zealand. From then on, the idea continued to mature, which is why I asked myself at the end of the trip: “Why not?”. After my return, I started studying law in Freiburg and quickly realized that I really enjoyed this way of thinking, the legal structure and logic. The profession of lawyer itself particularly appeals to me because of the varied and exciting cooperation with clients and their products or services. During my studies, I specialized in commercial and corporate law in order to deepen my interest in business law issues. The daily work in this area presents me with exciting challenges and motivates me.

In my free time, my heart beats for soccer. Even though my active career has now ended in the local league, I still watch the Bundesliga and Premier League with enthusiasm. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, appreciate good food and love discovering new cultures when I travel. New Zealand remains my absolute favorite travel destination, perhaps because it was the first real freedom and independence for me - a place where I could follow my own rhythm and where nature and the people made a lasting impression on me. It was not without reason that I was there again at the end of 2022. And who knows how many more times will follow ...
