FGvW to open new office in Düsseldorf in May 2025 with real estate and distribution law team

FGvW is opening its sixth office in Germany in Düsseldorf at the beginning of May 2025. For the start in the capital of North Rhine-Westphalia, two partners from the renowned Cologne-based construction and real estate law practice and a distribution law partner are moving to the new office. In total, the initial team will consist of six lawyers.

The Düsseldorf office will be managed by real estate law specialists Dr Jessica Hanke and Gregor Lamla and by Sven Köhnen, an expert in commercial, distribution and competition law. They and their teams will represent the full-service law firm locally. Further expansion is planned.

The new office premises of the law firm, located in the “NEW H” building on Heinrich-Heine-Allee in the middle of Düsseldorf's Central Business District (CBD), are in the immediate vicinity of the Wirtschaftsclub (business club), the world-famous shopping boulevard Königsallee and the Düsseldorf Opera House. The new office space offers enough room for the planned further growth of the law firm. The new location will strengthen FGvW's presence in the Rhineland metropolitan region and create a basis for expanding existing client contacts.

FGvW is thus consistently continuing its strategic expansion into the most important regions for businesses in Germany. The firm only opened its fifth office in Hamburg at the beginning of 2024. The aim is to achieve close integration with the traditional Cologne office and the partnership regards the offices in Cologne and Düsseldorf as a single location, thus providing partners and employees with additional flexibility and mobility in terms of their place of work. The close network, including the established offices in Freiburg, Frankfurt, Berlin and Hamburg, ensures reliable, high-quality and integrated legal advice by the firm's more than 120 legal professionals.

“With this experienced team on site, we will establish another strong office location that will enable our clients to benefit directly from our high-quality full-service offering in one of Germany's most important economic centers. We look forward to further developing this offering and see this as a significant milestone for the further growth of our firm,” comments Carsten Laschet, spokesperson for the management of FGvW. “Cologne and Düsseldorf are complementary rather than contrasting. The new office ideally strengthens our presence in the Rhineland. We believe that the opportunity to perceive FGvW as an attractive law firm with a partnership approach offers clients, future partners and employees considerable potential in the combination of the two major cities in the Rhineland.”

The steadily growing real estate practice, which already serves a substantial client base in Düsseldorf and the Rhine-Ruhr area, will now also drive its growth from the Düsseldorf office, in addition to other locations. In addition, there is the antitrust practice, which is located in close proximity to the Düsseldorf Higher Regional Court, which inevitably offers a further advantage.
