FGvW strengthens construction and real estate law in Berlin with team led by lawyer-notary Dr Lorenz Claussen

We are further expanding our real estate practice group throughout Germany and strengthening our Berlin office at the beginning of next year with the addition of Dr Lorenz Claussen, a lawyer and notary, as a partner. Dr Claussen is bringing with him a team of a senior associate and three notarial assistants.

Following the entries of Dr Elmar Bickert at Berlin and Dr Jessica Hanke at Cologne during the course of 2024, the recent addition of Dr. Claussen as a partner and his senior associate Dr. Dirk-Fabian Lange has further expanded FGvW’s integrated construction and real estate practice group in Germany to nearly 30 professionals in a relatively short time frame.

The focus of Dr Lorenz Claussen's practice is his work as a notary in the context of the acquisition and sale of real estate. In addition, together with Dr Dirk-Fabian Lange, he specializes in providing legal advice to German and international investors as well as banks on real estate transactions as well as on property development law and project development.

Dr Claussen was previously a founding partner at GSK Stockmann's Berlin office from 1997 and has been appointed notary in Berlin since 2002. He is well-known as a specialist in the Berlin market, particularly in real estate law, and his clients include numerous property developers, real estate funds and project developers.

Senior Associate Dr Dirk-Fabian Lange, a certified specialist in construction and architectural law, has been practising since 2007 and joined GSK Stockmann in 2021 after working for renowned medium-sized law firms in Berlin and Hamburg.

“The reinforcement provided by the experienced colleague Dr Lorenz Claussen and his team is a significant gain for our rapidly growing construction and real estate practice,” explains Carsten Laschet, spokesperson for the management of FGvW. ”His in-depth industry knowledge and many years of experience are a valuable addition to meet the growing demand for highly qualified advice on complex real estate transactions.”

“With the addition of Dr Lorenz Claussen and his well-known expertise as a notary, we are expanding the services we offer our clients in Berlin to include an essential area. I am very pleased that Dr Claussen has decided to break new ground after his successful career at GSK and to further develop the real estate law practice at FGvW together with us,” emphasizes Jörg Michael Siecke, partner in Berlin.

“After such a long time, a change is of course an emotional moment. I am very grateful to my former colleagues for our work together and we will remain friends,” comments Dr Lorenz Claussen. ”Now I am looking forward to opening a new chapter and contributing to the further development of the law firm FGvW in real estate law. With the notary office in Berlin, we can occupy a new field of business and effectively strengthen the real estate practice throughout Germany. It was above all the exceptionally friendly welcome by the team here in Berlin that convinced me to join FGvW.”

With the opening of the notary office, the Berlin office of FGvW complements the range of advice in the areas of real estate, corporate/M&A and tax law.
