FGvW Advises Midstad on  the Acquisition of the Carsch-Haus in Duesseldorf

Gregor Lamla

FGvW advised the asset and property manager Midstad on the acquisition of the Carsch-Haus in Duesseldorf, Germany, from Central Group.

Midstad acquired the Carsch-Haus on behalf of an investor. As part of the transaction, Midstad, in its capacity as project developer, will take over the coordination of the ongoing construction work, including the redesign of Heinrich-Heine-Platz. The company will redevelop this central downtown location into a future-oriented mixed-use property featuring retail, fitness, dining, and hotel spaces. Together with the neighboring property at Kasernenstrasse 6 – on whose acquisition FGvW also advised Midstad – the plan is to create a cohesive urban ensemble that will strengthen Duesseldorf’s downtown area in the long term. The City of Duesseldorf’s Planning Committee has already approved the corresponding preliminary building application.

With this acquisition, Midstad aims to manage the development of this central downtown location from a single source and to realize the site’s long-term potential. By combining the development of the Carsch House and the adjacent property at Kasernenstrasse 6, the goal is to create a resilient, mixed-use neighborhood that meets the changing demands of modern city centers and sustainably enhances the appeal of Heinrich-Heine-Platz.

An interdisciplinary team at Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner in Duesseldorf and Freiburg, specializing in real estate transactions and led by Düsseldorf partner Gregor Lamla, provided Midstad with comprehensive legal advice on the acquisition of the properties.
