In each issue of our newsletter, we introduce people from our firm personally. This time, it is the turn of labor lawyer Annette Rölz from our Frankfurt office.

Annette Rölz has been part of the Frankfurt labor law team since December 2020 and advises companies on all labor and employment law issues, in particular also in the context of restructurings as well as cross-border transactions. In addition, she focuses on advising managing directors, board members and executives. She was appointed Local Partner of our firm as of January 1, 2022.

She was born and raised as a doctor's daughter in Dortmund. As a teenager, however, she was drawn away. Two years at an English boarding school and graduation after 12 years were the first step.

She decided to return to Germany to study. Passau, however, was probably the most distant destination in Germany. Law was a relatively late addition to her list of study options, but in the end, at the age of 19, she saw herself more as a lawyer than as a banker, auditor or similar - otherwise it would probably have been business administration.

Annette Rölz discovered labor law as an interesting field of law early on in her studies. With some prior knowledge from the elective subject in her first state examination, she courageously set off for the working world in Frankfurt am Main. Even while waiting for her legal clerkship, she worked in law firms in the area of labor law. It was already clear then that she would become a lawyer in the field of labor law after her second state examination.

Annette Rölz took up her first position with a well-known national labor law boutique and advised on all areas of labor law. She also met her husband there.

In order to pursue a new career path, Annette Rölz joined Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner. The firm provides space for her experience and room for new challenges, also in cooperation with other departments.

She spends most of her free time with her three children. Even though she is passionate about exploring the world, she likes to spend her vacations at the North Sea or skiing in the mountains. Every evening she still sticks her nose in a book, rarely getting beyond a few pages. She has also recently rediscovered her passion for the piano.
