In each issue of our newsletter, we personally introduce people from our firm. This time it is the turn of Hannes Reiher from our Frankfurt office.

Hannes Reiher is a Local Partner at our Frankfurt office and advises clients particularly on matters concerning construction, commercial tenancy law and real estate.

In his childhood, Hannes Reiher got a taste of Berlin's big-city air, only to spend his youth in a tranquil small town on the edge of the Odenwald after his family moved. During a school internship in a law firm focused on commercial law, he discovered that the day-to-day work of a lawyer looks different but no less exciting than in the TV series "Ein Fall für zwei" or "Matlock" that were being broadcast at the time. Hence, his career aspiration was found. After convincing his parents (natural scientists through and through...) of the advantages of having a lawyer in the family, nothing stood in the way of studying law in Würzburg.

Hannes Reiher's studies at the University of Würzburg were strongly influenced by European law. A year abroad at Trinity College in Dublin and an internship at the British Institute for International and Comparative Law in London awakened his interest in private international law, which continues to fascinate him until today.

After completing his doctorate in Würzburg, Hannes Reiher returned to Hesse. He completed his legal clerkship at the Darmstadt Regional Court, the highlight of which was a three-month stint in the New York office of a major U.S. law firm.

Hannes Reiher began his professional career in a medium-sized law firm in Frankfurt focused on construction law. From the very beginning, he was able to gain experience in the legal supervision of a wide variety of construction projects and was involved in court proceedings regarding major projects. As a consequence his specialization in construction law was predetermined. After moving to a smaller construction law boutique, Hannes Reiher was able to broaden his expertise and also handle commercial tenancy law issues and real estate transactions. Hannes Reiher consistently continued this path towards a broader focus with his move to Friedrich Graf von Westphalen. Since spring 2020, he has strengthened the tenancy law and real estate law practice at the Frankfurt office and, together with associate Philipp Stiebing, advises on complex issues of construction law.

Hannes Reiher enjoys spending his free time with his family. When time permits, he makes music. While his electric guitar is (unfortunately) is increasingly gathering dust, he regularly picks up his violin and looks forward to rehearsals and the annual benefit concert with the Fulda Symphony Orchestra.
