FGvW advises ZAHORANSKY on joint venture with M10 Industries to enter mechanical engineering for the solar industry

ZAHORANSKY AG, world market leader in mechanical engineering for the brush industry, was advised by our law firm on the establishment of a joint venture with M10 Industries AG.

For ZAHORANSKY, the partnership with M10 Industries, which specializes in robotics and production automation in the solar module sector, means entering a new business field: mechanical engineering for the solar industry. In the dynamic market for solar cells, the two companies intend to cooperate intensively in the future and pool their capabilities in the development of highly automated manufacturing solutions. In the growing market for the manufacture of solar modules, there are considerable growth opportunities for ZAHORANSKY in the context of the worldwide demand for the expansion of renewable energies.

Already since the beginning of August, a ZAHORANSKY team under the project name SURFACE has been designing a production line based on the shingle matrix technology developed by M10 Industries and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE, which represents a "quantum leap in module production". The result is increased efficiency, a homogeneous appearance of the modules and improved shading tolerance.

Founded in 1902 and now in its third generation of family ownership, ZAHORANSKY AG, headquartered in Todtnau, Germany, is one of the world's leading manufacturers of brushing machines and related products in the oral care, cosmetics, technical brushes, packaging and consumer goods industries. The ZAHORANSKY Group is also active in the areas of mold making, packaging machines, industrial automation and medical technology. With approximately 900 employees worldwide at locations in Germany, Spain, the USA, India, China (Hong Kong, Shanghai), Japan, Brazil and Mexico, the group of companies generates sales of around 140 million euros (as of 2019).

ZAHORANSKY was advised by our team specialized in M&A transactions, led by Freiburg partner Barbara Mayer.
