Friedrich Graf von Westphalen Again Recommended by The Legal 500 Germany 2020

We are delighted that Friedrich Graf von Westphalen und Partner was once again attested "highly professional" leadership as well as "speed, precision, extraordinary sectoral expertise, even beyond national borders" in the annual study conducted by The Legal 500 among lawyers and clients.

We are recommended in the areas of trade, distribution and logistics, product liability, dispute resolution, construction law, healthcare, trademark and competition law, corporate law and M&A (mid-cap deals) as well as environmental and planning law.

According to the study, the trade and distribution team lead by Hendrik Thies also has detailed knowledge in the field of design furniture and "has a goal-oriented negotiation strategy". The field of expertise of co-practice head Sven Köhnen remains focused on the automotive industry with the team primarily representing dealers, but clients from the insurance and financial services industry are gaining in importance.

The insurance law practice around Tobias Lenz and Carsten Laschet shines especially in disputes concerning manager liability and D&O insurances with "thorough work with analytical depth and a strategic view. Very sophisticated pleadings and meticulous handling in recourse proceedings against manufacturers and contractors".

Tobias Lenz is listed as a "leading name" for the insurance law practice in the area of dispute resolution.

In competition law, in addition to the specialization in the pharmaceutical sector and the trademark and competition law support of major trademark manufacturers, which is anchored at the Freiburg office, FGvW also offers an experienced team around David Kipping (Cologne) in product labeling law and, at the Frankfurt office, advice in copyright and media law, including litigation. Furthermore, Norbert Hebeis, Stefan Dittl and Morton Douglas are recommended, the latter being well known in the healthcare sector.

Volker Stehlin's construction law team combines proven expertise in advising general contractors on new construction projects in the power plant sector with an increased focus on supporting the client in the course of inner-city project developments. The international client base includes globally active companies from the chemical, technology and mechanical engineering sectors, which regularly consult Markus Beaumart, who has joined our team coming from DLA Piper in July 2018, in connection with infrastructure projects. Olaf Konzak moved to our firm in October 2018 from LLR Legerlotz Laschet Rechtsanwälte GbR.

In the area of healthcare, our advice to pharmacies and our strength in drug and remedy advertising law with a "broadly based" team and "competent contact persons who work proactively" is positively mentioned. Labor law mandates in this area are handled from the Frankfurt office. "In the case of cross-departmental issues, communication and control is excellently organized." Barbara Mayer is the leader of the practice group.

In trademark law, we were able to expand our range of advice by strengthening our Cologne and Frankfurt offices in product labeling law and design and copyright law. The heads of the practice group are Norbert Hebeis, Morton Douglas, David Kipping and Stephan Dittl.

Company law is managed "highly professionally and client-oriented" under the direction of Barbara Mayer and Gerhard Manz (Freiburg) and Arnt Göppert (Cologne). In the area of M&A (mid-cap deals), this "extremely experienced" team covers not only national and cross-border transaction support for medium-sized and family-run companies, but also for the real estate, medical technology and automotive sectors.

Olaf Konzak leads the environmental and planning law practice with "broad expertise and high assertiveness in negotiations".

We are very pleased about the renewed acknowledgement and would like to thank all those who contributed positively to these results by participating in the interviews of The Legal 500.
