FGvW Strengthens Frankfurt Office: Christoph Börskens Joins as Partner and Opens Own Notary's Office

Christoph Börskens (39), lawyer and civil law notary, joined our Frankfurt office as a partner as of April 1. His focus is on notarial work in the areas of real estate, corporate law/M&A and corporate finance.

In addition to his notarial expertise, Christoph Börskens has for many years provided comprehensive advice in an international environment in the areas of real estate law, corporate law/M&A and tax law. In particular, he has extensive legal experience in the accompaniment and structuring of real estate and company acquisitions and sales.

Christoph Börskens began his professional career in 2008 as an attorney at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer. Prior to his appointment as a notary public based in Frankfurt am Main and his move to Gerns & Partner, he worked for Allen & Overy. In addition to providing legal advice on real estate transactions and ongoing advice on real estate portfolios, particularly in commercial landlord and tenant law, he was already regularly involved in notarial work, particularly in the areas of corporate and real estate law.

"With Christoph Börskens we are once again significantly strengthening our nationwide real estate and M&A practice. For Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner the establishment of its own notary's office is a milestone. In future we will be able to provide even more comprehensive support for international transactions involving real estate portfolios and companies," explained Barbara Mayer and Carsten Laschet, managing partners at Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner. "We are excellently positioned in the real estate sector and are already handling large transactions for companies and increasingly for institutional investors. Now we are taking a further strategic step by setting up the notary's office".

"I am very pleased to once again significantly expand the range of services offered by the firm by offering notarial services and to contribute to the success of Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner with my expertise," emphasized Christoph Börskens. "In the past, I have already worked together with the team around Tom Erdt in many cases in a spirit of trust. The entrepreneurial approach of Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner and the strong international orientation of the firm convinced me."

Our successful real estate practice around the partners Uwe Steingröver and Arnt Göppert in Cologne, Tom Erdt in Frankfurt as well as Volker Stehlin and Friederike Schäffler in Freiburg has recently been significantly strengthened again at partner level with Markus Beaumart (since July 2018). Beaumart's practice focuses on real estate law, with particular emphasis on transactions and project developments, and he also advises clients in plant construction. The new office in Berlin, which opens in May 2020, will be joined in the coming months by Jörg Michael Siecke, another partner specializing in real estate transactions, and an associate.
