Martens

In each edition of our newsletter, we introduce you to one of our lawyers. Today, it is the turn of Jan Henning Martens from our Freiburg office.

Jan Henning is the youngest partner in our corporate / M&A team. His strong focus is on advising clients in the healthcare sector, in particular manufacturers of medical devices. His advice extends to corporate / M&A, commercial, regulatory and compliance issues.

Jan Henning joined FGvW in 2010 and became a partner in 2017, after having worked as research assistant at the Freiburg University from 2009 to 2010. Born 1984 in Hamburg, Jan Henning grew up in a small town in the north of Hamburg. After school, he worked in a kindergarten in Brazil as part of his social service. Thereafter, he decided to study law and become a lawyer, since Jan Henning has always been interested in worldwide economic developments and political discussions – thus, law seemed to be a good combination of these interests. Jan Henning studied in Tübingen for two years, then moved to Freiburg and met – after some months of legal traineeship with large international and German law firms in Düsseldorf - his wife, so he had a very good reason to stay in Germany and not to return to Brazil, his favorite foreign country.

Not only in Brazil but anywhere, Jan Henning enjoys getting to know foreign people and cultures, and his day-to-day international business with foreign clients or the preparation of contracts for worldwide business partners of clients give him many opportunities to put this into practice. Jan Henning is fascinated by the interesting products of his clients, their research and international distribution channels. His aim is not only to give pure legal advice, but also to discuss strategic questions with his clients. In his leisure time, he spends time with his family and in the black forest – cycling, skiing or hiking with friends and family. Further, he plays badminton and squash.
