Barbara Mayer appointed to DAV Civil Law Committee

The management of the German Lawyers‘ Association (Deutscher Anwaltsverein „DAV“) has appointed Dr. Barbara Mayer to its civil law committee, effective from 1 January 2015 for a term of four years. Thus, for the first time a representative of Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner has been appointed to this committee.

The civil law committee consists of 14 persons and is one of the expert committees established by the DAV. The legislative committees’ function is to comment on national draft legislation and draft guidelines of the European Union. These comments contribute legal knowledge to legislation and render laws practicable. Among the members of the civil law committee are representatives of renowned law firms, such as CMS Hasche, Sigle, Görg, Noerr, Gleiss Lutz, Linklaters and DLA Piper. Dr. Georg Maier-Reimer from Oppenhof & Partner is the president of the committee. The DAV claims that the legislative committees and expert committees are staffed with voluntary „extraordinary lawyer personalities“.

The appointment of Dr. Barbara Mayer to the civil law committee of the DAV reflects the nationwide approval of FGvW’s corporate and commercial law practice group. Dr. Barbara Mayer has been a member of the corporate law committee of the German Federal Bar Association (Bundesrechtsanwaltskammer) since 2012. The head of Friedrich Graf von Westphalen’s corporate/M&A team Gerhard Manz has been a member of the executive committee of the company and commercial law working group of the German Lawyers’ Association. Our senior partner Prof. Dr. Friedrich Graf von Westphalen has been a member of the chair of the German Lawyers’ Association for many years and is also head of the German delegation of the Council of Bars and Law Societies of Europe (CCBE).
