In each edition of our international newsletter, we introduce you to one of our lawyers. Today, it is the turn of Oliver Wasmeier from our Freiburg office.

Oliver, born in 1981, joined Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner in 2013. He works as a lawyer in our Freiburg commercial law and corporate / M&A practice. On completion of his legal studies at the University of Freiburg, Oliver worked briefly at a Freiburg law firm, before taking up his PhD studies as a research fellow at the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology in the European and international business law department. During his legal traineeship (Referendariat), Oliver worked in the Frankfurt banking practice of a leading law firm, as well as in the legal department of a major pharmaceutical firm.

Oliver’s professional interest is on European and international corporate law, in which fields he has not only written his doctoral thesis, but also published several publications in both the English and German languages. As a Breisgau-native, Oliver counts himself lucky that, at Friedrich Graf von Westphalen & Partner, he has the opportunity to work in his chosen area of expertise while enjoying a splendid view onto the black forest.

When Oliver is not playing hide-and-seek with his 15-month-old son, he enjoys spending his free time in the rich landscapes surrounding Freiburg – hiking, snowboarding, or just trying to catch the moment with his camera.
